HVAC photo marketing in Prince Edward Island

PEI is small, connected and full of heat pumps. Photos here must show careful workmanship and protect privacy carefully, because almost everyone knows someone's house.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Prince Edward Island is a small, closely connected market where heat pumps are already the most common primary heating system. That changes the job of your photos. Buyers are not asking whether heat pumps work; they are asking whether your crew does neat work and treats homes with respect. Photos must also protect privacy more carefully than in a big city, because on the Island almost anyone can recognise a neighbour's house.

HVAC.Photos is a marketing service. We are not a contractor and do no HVAC installation or repair work.

The PEI market and its buyers

More than a third of Island homes, 36% in 2023, used a heat pump as their main system, Statistics Canada found. Oil was the main energy source for 28%, electricity for 18% and wood for 8%.

The Island's markets are compact:

  • Charlottetown and Stratford: the largest concentration of homes, from older downtown houses to newer subdivisions.
  • Summerside: a separate centre with its own word-of-mouth network.
  • Three Rivers, Cornwall and rural communities: older farmhouses and cottages, many still on oil, often with wood backup.

In a market this size, the number of photos needed to look active is modest. Two good photos a week on your Google profile can put you ahead of competitors whose profiles have not changed in a year.

Privacy on a small island

Small communities raise the stakes on identification. Our standard do-not-shoot list applies, plus a few Island-specific cautions:

  • avoid windows with views; a glimpse of the shore or a church steeple can locate a house
  • avoid distinctive exterior colours and trim; frame outdoor units against plain siding
  • never name the road, even for rural jobs; use the community or simply "PEI"
  • take extra care with cottages, which are often empty and should not be identifiable

Our consent guide has the full routine. PIPEDA is the general privacy reference for Island businesses.

Climate and shooting conditions

PEI has cold, snowy winters moderated by the surrounding Gulf. Damp and wind affect exterior shots more than extreme cold. Wipe the lens before every outdoor frame and photograph units on stands with snow and drainage clearance visible. Inside, show wood stoves and oil tanks honestly when they remain part of the setup.

Regulators to know

The province's Inspection Services covers boilers and pressure vessels, electrical, plumbing and propane. Boiler and pressure-vessel work requires a Mechanical Contractor Licence, and propane appliance technicians need an LP Gas Personnel Licence. The WCB of PEI covers workplace safety. We link and summarise only.

Programmes worth knowing, as of October 2026

PEI's programme picture changed significantly in 2026, so captions need care.

  • The official efficiencyPEI page states that the free heat pump program is closed to applications.
  • Residential heat pump equipment rebates ended on 2026-04-15, though purchases made in the prior year may still qualify within a year of purchase.
  • Under the June 2026 federal agreement, PEI is expanding free attic and basement insulation for income-qualified homeowners; current intake details were not confirmed.

If older captions on your site mention a rebate, review them now.

Seasonal and cottage work

Many Island cottages are opened in spring and closed in autumn, and some owners add ductless heat pumps to extend the season. These jobs make attractive photos, but the properties sit empty for months, so never publish anything that reveals their location. Publish cottage-season work in April and May, when owners are planning, and keep winter posts focused on year-round homes.

How we approach a PEI photo programme

  1. Focus shot lists on workmanship details for heat pump installs and replacements.
  2. Apply the Island privacy additions to every exterior and window-facing frame.
  3. Keep a steady, modest Google profile cadence of two or three photos a week.
  4. Audit existing captions for outdated programme references using our stock and caption audit.

Call, text or email with your community and a few recent installs, and see pricing for how the work is packaged.

Frequently asked questions

Is a photo programme worth it in a market as small as PEI?

Often more than in a big city. On the Island, buyers ask friends and check Google, and a profile full of recent, real local work reinforces what they hear. You also need fewer photos to look active.

How careful do we need to be with exterior shots?

Very. In small communities, a distinctive siding colour or a view of the shore can identify a house. Frame the outdoor unit against plain wall, or skip the exterior frame.

Are efficiencyPEI heat pump rebates still available?

As of October 2026, the official pages say the residential equipment rebates ended on 2026-04-15 and the free heat pump program is closed. Don't imply otherwise in captions; link to efficiencyPEI for current information.
