Manitoba has one of the longest heating seasons in southern Canada, so homeowners here are sceptical about anything that sounds new. The single most useful photo you can publish is a cold-climate heat pump working through a real Manitoba winter, ideally alongside the furnace or electric backup it pairs with. Around that, a strong library shows furnace replacements for gas homes and clean conversions for electric ones.
HVAC.Photos is a marketing service. We are not an HVAC contractor and do no installation, repair or service work.
The Manitoba market and its buyers
Manitoba has a more balanced fuel mix than its Prairie neighbours. According to Statistics Canada, 52% of households used natural gas and 33% electricity for primary heat in 2023.
That produces three distinct buyer groups worth separate gallery sections:
- Gas homes in Winnipeg and Brandon replacing furnaces, often adding a heat pump at the same time.
- Electric homes, including many outside the gas network, moving from baseboards or an electric furnace to a heat pump.
- Growing communities such as Steinbach and Winkler, with newer houses and a strong word-of-mouth culture where familiar trucks and crews matter.
Thompson and the north bring longer, harsher winters, and photos that show you actually work there.
Climate and shooting conditions
Deep cold shapes the shoot. Exterior frames are worth the most in January and February, and also the hardest to get.
- Take the outdoor-unit photo first, quickly, then warm up. Phone batteries drain fast in severe cold.
- Shoot the stand height and clearance above snow, since that is what buyers look for.
- Ice fog and blowing snow can hide the unit entirely. A clear day a week later is fine; caption with the month the install was done.
- Inside, show the furnace or air handler and the heat pump coil together for dual-fuel systems.
Regulators to know
Manitoba's Office of the Fire Commissioner handles permits and tradesperson licensing for gas and oil-burning equipment, plus boilers, pressure vessels and electrician licensing. The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba and Apprenticeship Manitoba cover workplace safety and certification.
Link the right body if your about page mentions licences. We don't advise on compliance. PIPEDA is the general privacy reference for private businesses in Manitoba.
Programmes worth knowing, as of October 2026
Manitoba has several active programmes that relate directly to the heat pump work you are photographing.
- Efficiency Manitoba's heat pump rebate lists $2,000 for a centrally ducted cold-climate air source heat pump and $1,500 for ductless, for existing primary residences. Registered suppliers can earn a $100 bonus on applications with an F280 heat-load calculation submitted before 2027-03-31.
- Manitoba was the first province to sign on to the federal Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program, announced 2025-09-12 and delivered by Efficiency Manitoba with no-cost retrofits for low- to median-income households.
- The federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program stopped accepting Manitoba applications on 2026-07-31.
Use one dated rebate page that links to Efficiency Manitoba, and keep captions about the equipment.
Gallery sections that match Manitoba buyers
Organise the gallery the way buyers think: gas furnace replacements, heat pumps added to an existing furnace, full electric conversions, and ductless rooms. A Winnipeg homeowner with a gas furnace should reach jobs like theirs in one tap.
How we approach a Manitoba photo programme
- Split the shot list into ducted heat pump, ductless and dual-fuel variants, each with a mandatory winter exterior frame.
- Create an "electric conversion" gallery section with baseboard or electric-furnace before frames.
- Keep F280 and rebate paperwork as internal frames only.
- Push winter exterior shots to your Google profile during cold snaps, when buyers are thinking hardest about heat.
Our before-and-after galleries turn these into project pages, and the shot list guide covers heat pump frames in detail. Call, text or email with your city and a few winter installs.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most persuasive HVAC photo in Manitoba?
A cold-climate heat pump outdoor unit on a raised stand, clear of deep snow, photographed in the middle of winter. It answers the doubt most Manitoba homeowners have about heat pumps.
Should we photograph the F280 heat-load paperwork?
Keep it in the job file, not on the website. Efficiency Manitoba offers registered suppliers a bonus for applications that include an F280 calculation before 2027-03-31, so the record matters internally; it is not marketing material.
Do electric-heated homes need different photos?
Yes. Homes moving off baseboards or an electric furnace make good before-and-after pairs, since the old system looks very different from a ductless head or a ducted heat pump.
